If there’s one hashtag that continues to trend, its #girldad. The hashtag became popular after Kobe Bryant’s death in January 2020, when he was celebrated for having been a proud father of girls. Soon after, social media came flooded with many posting images of themselves with their own daughters as a tribute to the athlete and his daughter Gianna. And it continues to trend. Persons are taking the term seriously and we decided to find out what this hashtag means to Dads who follow the blog. We asked one Chunkie Munkie Dad 5 simple questions. Here’s what he had to say!

Q: What’s it like being a Girl Dad?

A: Like being any other dad most days, you just want to protect them and see them grow up. Outside of home, you try harder to make sure she’s growing into a more equitable world.

Q: What is your favourite thing to do with your daughter?

A: Running around in a park; she is unbound joy.

Q: What do you instil in your daughter?

A: Discipline; it’s the best tool for achieving goals.

“The happiest moment of my life was probably when my daughter was born.”

David Duchovny

Q: What hopes do you have for your daughter?

A: I hope she’s a good person, that she ends up surrounded by good people and always feels loved.

Q: What would you tell a girl dad to be?

A: Be loving and present for your daughter; supportive of solutions to challenges she’ll face in the future.
